7. Unapologetically Being Myself (Doing Whatever I Want)
I used to look to others as guidance as to what I wanted in my life. Being in the age of "social media", it's hard to not get sucked into what everyone else is doing. In 2017, I have been doing some soul searching to identify what I want and in life. It was time for me to stop telling myself "No". If I want to create a website, do it! If I want to learn how to sew, do it! If I want to write a book, do it! Got it?!
6. My Forever Fitness Goals
I am a dancer by passion! Since the young age of 2, I have been active in an dance class. That all took a halt when I graduated college. My fitness levels dropped and I started seeing significant changes in my body. The year of 2017 was filled with me trying to get in a workout groove. I had my challenges but I also did some great thing along the way. I did a 4hr bike ride excursion in Barcelona, Spain, I took my first "Heels" Dance Class , I went to an Pole Dance Class, and I now have a gym membership! I am so ready to get closer to my fitness goals in 2018.
5. Learning how to Cook
To this day, I watch the food network channel like some people watch the news. I have always wanted to be a good cook but never believed in myself enough to start experimenting. In 2017, I invested in the tools that I need to be successful. I purchased new pots and pans, I was gifted a KitchenAid Mixer, and I bought a recipe book. Now, all I need an apron and I'm ready for 2018!
In my Cooking Tab you will find more about my cooking adventures.
4. I said "Yes" to The Dress!
If you didn't already know, I'm about to be a WIFE!!!
In 2016, I said "Yes!" to his marriage proposal. In 2017, I said "Yes!" to the Dress. In 2018, I will be saying "Yes!" to spend the rest of my life with the love of my life!
3. My Ancestors
I am so grateful for the places that I am able to go and the things I was able to do in 2017. I have so much thanks to give to those who came before me and paved the way. The best way to honor them is to learn about them. In 2017, I started building my family tree on Ancestry.com and I have ordered DNA Kits from both Ancestry.com and 23 and Me.
I want to trace my family back to tribes in Africa, visit the land of my ancestors, and celebrating them by learning their native dances.
2. My Creativity (Gender Reveal Video, House Decor)
Since I graduated college, I've become a robot. I wake up, go to work, come home, scroll through social media, eat dinner, and go to sleep. I wasn't leaving anytime for my creativity. I used to doodle, write poems, and make up dances frequently. That sense of creativity was leaving me. In 2017, I took a few social media breaks and focused more of fostering my creativity. I took an active interest in decorating our condo (...more to come in a future post). I directed and filmed an alternative ending, surprise, gender reveal video. I was so shocked my the outcome of the video. I had no idea that I was capable of producing something of that capacity. I also created this website!
1. Saying "No!"
I know this is about what I'm saying "Yes!' to, but a part of that is allowing yourself to say no to things. Many times, the fear of potentially hurting someone else's feelings or telling them something they don't want to hear keeps us from going with our gut feelings and saying, No! There were a lot of times in 2017 when I declined invitations to dinner/drinks, vacations, and other festivities due to me simply not wanting to go or it not being aligned with my financial goals.
Do yourself a favor and start telling yourself yes more often. You will be surprised at who you transform into.
What did you tell yourself βYes!β to in 2017?
